NHS Direct estimate that approximately 1 in 50 people will suffer with generalised anxiety disorder at some point during their lifetime. This condition can happen to anyone at anytime and can affect men and women of all ages.
Generalised anxiety is a long-term condition that can make you feel anxious about lots of things, as opposed to anxiety about a specific thing or upcoming event – for example tests and exams or a wedding or financial issues. Feeling worried or anxious over a specific issue is quite normal. But when you find yourself permanently anxious, this can affect everyday life. You may find that you feel worried or anxious almost every day and you may simply not be able to relax.
